Who is at risk of malware attack

Any computer that can connect to the world like through the web, email, a network, or a CD drive is at risk of malware and viruses.

All types of people and of all ages are at risk having their computer infected, so as long you are wary and cautious.

Children and people who are unfamiliar with computers/computer safety have a greater chance of getting their computer infected.

People who do not have anti-virus software, torrent, download, use untrustworthy programs, and who click on suspiucious links/emails are all at a greater risk of being attacked.

Where is malware prevalent

The world's malware capital is Shaoxing, China with 21.3% of malware attacks coming from the city.

The top 3 most infected countries are:

  1. China -around 67% computers infected
  2. Thailand -around 63% computers infected
  3. Taiwan -around 59% computers infected

Malware is commonly found in home and business computers but can really be anywhere there is a computer that is connected to the outside world. Malware is especially found in computers that are not updated, have no antivirus, and no firewall.

Malware is common in home computers because many home users are not experienced with computers and are more prone to infection. Businesses may be targeted for crime related purposes to steal or destroy valuable information.

Malware and viruses are especially prevalent on Windows operating systems, but that is mostly because a lot more people use Windows than Mac or Linux.

Malware may be found in ads, emails, websites, software, programs (usually illegal ones), CDs, files, etc.
